A letter to my future self, sharing my concerns, hopes and some dreams. Is anxiety really worth it if I can and I will? I can't stop now, won't stop.
That time Chioma doubted me - An Ofe Owerri story
Snowboarding while black
So if by now you haven't noticed, I grew up in Lagos, Nigeria, where you don't think of snow. There was once a Nokia phone with a snowboarding game but that's about as much exposure as I had previously had to snow. Now that I live in Canada though, it is either embrace or despise it. It had taken too long for me to get into winter sports but this weekend I decided it was time, after all better late than never.
Lagos Nostalgia - The drive through.
Lagos 1 - 0 Tolu
I wrote this post upon arriving at Muritala Muhammed Airport Lagos but did not post since I was "data-less". It then fell to the abyss of my drafts from which it is now rescued.
As I write this, I am waiting in the airport an unknown amount of time for my parents to beat the traffic and get me. I think I've been here 20,30 minutes maybe and I'm yet to be excited by this Lagos atmosphere. That is not to say I'm not happy to be back, I'm just not jittery with excitement quite yet.
New Year, New Adventures
I can't believe it has been over a month since I last put up a post. I took a self-imposed sabbatical from my social media presence to catch up on the projects I had at work before going on vacation. Now that I have been able to successfully catch up and keep pace with my workload, my other interests are slowly picking up again.
Lagos JJC - Banking Edition (Trilogy)
Lagos JJC - Banking Edition (Part II)
After being told on Day 1 that my passport was not ID, I went to my father to discuss my situation. To my surprise, he laughed and told me, "how can someone employed by a multinational bank tell you your passport is not ID?" Now, I had some renewed vigour, I was going back there to speak to whomever was necessary to get my account.
Lagos JJC - Banking Edition (Part I)
Upon my arrival in my country, I made it one of my goals to open a bank account fully under my name. The ones I had previously were opened on my behalf by my parents when I was young, so the opportunity to get one as a semi-adult was here and I was going to take full advantage. I also felt it was necessary to be able to have some reserve or contingency in Nigeria.
Celebration of an Icon - My Grandma.
What more can be said about my grandma? She has been the cornerstone for our family for a long time; so when her children (my parents, uncles & aunts) decided to honour her with a birthday week, I didn't think it was too much. I was unable to make the weekday festivities since I had work commitments but I knew the weekend was not to be missed.
